Terms of Use

1. Acceptance

By using SipWiser, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Who can use SipWiser

You may use SipWiser if you are at least 18 years old (or the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher), of sound mind, and not prohibited from consuming alcohol for medical or legal reasons. Age is self-certified at sign-in — we do not verify it independently.

3. What SipWiser is (and isn't)

SipWiser is a consumer tool for logging alcoholic drinks and viewing estimates about them. It is not a medical device, it is not medical or legal advice, and it is not a breathalyser. We do not measure your blood alcohol — we estimate it from what you tell the app you drank, using a published formula and your self-reported profile.

4. BAC disclaimer

BAC figures shown by SipWiser are estimates only. They depend on the accuracy of what you enter, vary with individual physiology, and can be wrong by a wide margin. Do not use SipWiser to decide whether it is safe to drive, operate machinery, care for others, or perform any other task where impairment matters. Never drink and drive, regardless of what the app shows.

5. Your responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Provide accurate inputs (drink type, size, ABV, and — if you use BAC — your profile).
  • Make your own decisions about your safety and health.
  • Not use the app while impaired if doing so would interfere with your wellbeing.

6. Account and data

You sign in with Google. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure and for activity that happens under your SipWiser account.

7. Availability

SipWiser is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uptime, and the service may be unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control.

8. Intellectual property

The SipWiser app, code, content, and branding are owned by us. The sips, sessions, and profile data you log belong to you — we hold them only to provide the service to you and to comply with our legal obligations.

9. Limitation of liability

SipWiser is offered free of charge. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the app, including any damages arising from decisions you make based on BAC estimates.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you for any direct damages is capped at EUR 100 or the total amount you have paid us for the service in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, whichever is greater.
  • Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or under mandatory consumer-protection rules that apply to you.

If you are a consumer in the EU, nothing in this clause deprives you of the protections afforded by the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence.

10. Termination

You may stop using SipWiser and delete your account at any time via Settings → Account → Delete all data. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or if required by law.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in-app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Belgium, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of that jurisdiction, unless a mandatory consumer-protection rule grants you a different forum.

EU online dispute resolution (ODR): If you are a consumer in the EU, you may use the European Commission's ODR platform to resolve disputes out of court: https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not currently committed to any specific alternative dispute resolution body; we will try to resolve any dispute directly by email first.
